Maggie Crawford to teach classes next week

May 14, 2010

I am so excited to announce that one of our favorite guest teachers, Maggie Crawford, will be here next weekend to teach three classes.  The first will be a card class using Elizabeth Craft glitter.  The stunning results had everyone talking at CHA in January.  You will make three  cards, shown below:

This class meets Friday, May 21, at 1:30p.m.

The next class Maggie will teach is a scrapbook class.  You will make a 2 page layout using We R Memory Keepers new line “Old Glory.”  Now you can get your layout done for those July 4th pictures ahead of time.  After the holiday, all you will need to do is just print them out and adhere them to your pages.  Here is what this fabulous layout looks like:

The class meets Saturday morning, May 22, at 10:30a.m.  Maggie has never taught a class for just you scrapbookers and I hope you will be able to come and show her how much you appreciate her class just for you.  Maggie will be teaching some techniques in this class too, so it should be a fun time.

Lastly, Maggie will teach another of her fabulous Ranger card classes.  Using a lot of the new Ranger product that they introduced at CHA in January, like the distress inks, you will make 4 cards as shown below:

Maggie’s Ranger class is always a lot of fun.  Hope you can join us on Saturday, May 22, at 2:00 p.m.

All three classes are only $25 each which includes all supplies.  Just bring your basic kit.  Stop by and sign up or give us a call.  It is going to be a wonderful weekend.

Spring Fling a big success!

March 28, 2010

It’s official.  We know how to have fun at Creating Lasting Memories.  Our first Spring Fling on Saturday was 7 hours of non-stop card making excitement.  We made seven birthday cards and now have a nice supply (and absolutely NO excuse for not sending a card full of wishes).

The teachers were all good sports and wore these fun chef hats & aprons we acquired at CHA.  Check out Shari in this photo:

There was lots of good food to eat and plenty of chocolate. I don’t think they minded the hourly prize drawings either!

It was a great time for young and old alike.  Here’s Dottie with her granddaughter Jenn who was visiting from California.  What a treat to get to know her better.

I just want to say a special word of thanks to all 6 of my fabulous teachers: Shari Townley, Marti Arrell, Allene Fewell, Loye Rich, Chris Liles, and Bonnie Bremer.  You guys are wonderful, creative and so supportive.  I couldn’t have done it without you.

Watch for posts of their very creative cards.  I’ll try to give you some instructions on how they were made, similar to what I did after World Card Making Day.

Have a great week and be sure to take some time for ART.

Cards on display at the Chetco library

Creating Lasting Memories is this month’s guest artist at the Chetco library.  Stop by the display in the lobby and check out the featured cards, scrapbooks and altered books.  I included a lot of typed information about the hobby along with the samples.  So far, the feedback has been very positive.  Let me know what you think.

Scrap Pink

September 20, 2009

The room was decorated in pink crepe paper and balloons

The room was decorated in pink crepe paper and balloons

We had a fabulous time Friday night Cropping for the Cure!! The room was decorated in pink, pink, pink:  flowers, crepe paper and these wonderful balloons.  We also had a special guest: Dottie Schrieber, a good friend and a card maker extraordinaire, came and shared with us some of her experiences as a breast cancer survivor.  With humor, humility and grace she truly glorified God in her presentation.  I was so proud of her.

Dottie was presented with pink roses.

The evening included lots of prizes many of which were generously donated by our wonderful EK Success rep Kathy Gallagher.  Thank you Kathy for helping to make our evening so special.

And here’s the whole gang posing for the camera:

Thanks guys for your support of Susan G. Komen for the cure.  I consider it an honor to be your called your friend.

Slam ‘n Salmon Derby special sale

September 5, 2009

I promised special sales for those who read the blog and here’s the first one.

In the brochure that the downtown merchant’s association is passing out to the derby participants and their families, there is a coupon.  Buy two sheets of paper and get the third one for FREE!  Yep, that’s a great sale.

Now, as a Creating Lasting Memories customer, you don’t need the coupon.  You just need to come in anytime today and say, “I ready it on your blog”, and the sale is for you too!  The 2 for 1 sale will apply to as many sheets of paper as you want.  As always, the discount goes towards the lowest priced paper.

Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend.  See you later!

Birthday Party “favors”

September 1, 2009

I talked about this is the August, 09 newsletter.  Creating Lasting Memories now does birthday parties! Designed for girls OR boys, each child makes their very own scrapbook filled with pictures of themselves and their friends at the party.  We do the decorations and provide food, even the cake if you want.  All you do is bring the kids.

Now here is the “favor” for Creating Lasting Memories fans:  Tell a friend about this birthday party thing and if they decide to book a party, you will get a $20 gift certificate to use in the store.  All they have to do is mention your name and we will make out the gift certificate and have it waiting for you at the front register.
